FOLLOWING its sensational debut last year, Strule FM, broadcasting from Omagh on 106.8 FM is set to hit the airwaves again.
Test transmissions are currently being carried out, with the organisation confident it will reach an audience encompassing most ot the Omagh district area.
Last year the highly innovative station picked up a coveted Sony Radio Award in London, presented by star disc jockey Chris Evans. Top stations were present at the ceremony including BBC Radio One and Two.
One of the driving forces behind the project said that after last year's response everyone is excited as the transmission starting date of Thursday November 26 gets even closer.
Paul Maguire told the UlsterHerald "Last year was a big success. It seemed to go down very well. We were delighted with the reaction to Strule FM and it was fabulous to win a top award. We are really looking forward to it again.
"Last year was very exciting and went much better than expected so everyone is on board again and eager to get going. There will be new people involved as well, which will freshen it up"
Last year's fare, which was broadcast for four weeks, transmitted a diversity of programmes, interviews and music that appealed to all tastes, young and old
A flood of diverse programme ideas was turned into a comprehensive weekly schedule.
Paul added, "StruleFM celebrates the diverse talents of the people of all age groups and cultural backgrounds locally. We try to introduce a lot of content not usually covered, for example the history of Omagh railways, the Royal Arms, what it was like during the war and a range of other features".
"We also brought in young media students which was very popular and they added jingles and presented programmes. Their involvement was excellent and it complemented their media studies"
Starting on Thursday, November 26 and running right up to Christmas Eve, StruleFM will broadcast on 106.8 FM between 2pm and 9pm each day.
